Navara (also known as Njavara) is a heritage rice variety that has been cultivated in India for its auruvedic medicinal properties for over 2500 years. Navara Natural Farm is one of the few growers outside Kerala.
Nutty, satisfying rice that gets sweeter in the mouth. With dal and curries or other recipes, our famous red rice is nutrient rich and full of protein. We use it in the cut form for hearty breakfast upma’s and the flour for crispy dosas.
Its low in starch and high in protein, easily making it a healthy choice over other rice varieties.
Since Navara is a medicinal rice, it has to be cultivated organically. As a porridge, its used to benefit the circulatory, respiratory and the digestive systems. Navara has been included in Aruvedic treatment of ailments ranging from polio and snakebites to stomach ulcers and skin diseases.
Other uses for the rice included using the bran and root for medicinal preparations.
